Beth Pugh Farrell has been active in agriculture her entire life. From growing up on her grandparents' farms to majoring in Animal Science, Beth is a proven leader in agriculture and conservation in our community and state.. She remains active with the NC 4-H and NC FFA programs. Additionally, she is owner/operator of a small farm in Apex.

 

Her family farm was actively involved in the Alleghany Soil & Water Conservation District, and she competed in speech, essay, and poster contests as a student.  Her experience attending Resource Conservation Workshop opened her eyes to the natural resource concerns of urban communities. 

 

Beth understands the role of Soil and Water Conservation Districts and why they are important. She understands the role of District Supervisors and what the job is. It's her belief in the work of Conservation Districts across the state that inspired her to seek this office..  Voluntary conservation programs work best with strong relationships and collaborations, and Beth brings a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge to this position.

Your ballot will have 6 candidates in 2026 for Wake Soil and Water Supervisor, and you will be able to vote for 2.  It is intimidating to run for public office, especially with over 857,000 registered voters in Wake County.  But Beth firmly believes that if qualified and passionate people don't run for public office, our whole community suffers.  Her experience in leading the District and excitement about the momentum she's built in the last 4 years  to enhance conservation efforts, build meaningful partnerships and leverage resources proves she's both qualified and passionate to serve Wake County. This is the best choice for Wake Soil & Water Supervisor.

Beth Pugh Farrell will continue to build on her contributions to the Wake Soil & Water Conservation District and continue to::

 

CONSERVE farmland across Wake County, including education and implementation of the recently revised and approved Wake County Farmland Preservation Plan. 

 

PRESERVE soil and water resources through voluntary cost-share programs with landowners - including ways to make these programs better and more relevant to the needs of landowners in a rapidly urbanizing county.

 

COLLABORATE with stakeholders to use sound policy, governance, and fiscal management to best position Wake County's soil and water resources for the future - including strategic growth and development.

 

EDUCATE the citizens of Wake County about the importance of soil and water conservation efforts and projects funded by the District.

 

Additionally, she wants people to understand how the District works.  It's non-partisan and non-policy making.  This isn't about agendas; it's about soil conservation and water quality efforts that benefit Wake County and all communities downstream.  

Beth Pugh Farrell has spent her entire life and career in agriculture.  She is fortunate that her passion and profession have intersected, and this is reflected in all that she does - including serving as Chair of the Wake Soil & Water Conservation District.
